WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT NEWBORN MALE CIRCUMCISION

•	Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin, the tissue covering the head (glands) of the male  reproductive organ.
•	Circumcision is usually performed on the first or second day after birth
•	If done in the newborn period, the procedure takes about 5 to 10 minutes.
•	Adult and older children circumcision takes about one hour.
•	The circumcision generally heals in five to seven days.
•	There is some evidence that circumcision has health benefits, including: A decreased risk of urinary tract infections, Protection against penile cancer, reduced risk of some sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, amongst others.
•	In some cases patients can have complications from the procedure, such as bleeding
•	There are two types of circumcision for infants and children; the plastibell and the classical
•	Plastibell is done for newborn infants while classical is done for older children
