Dr Laminu Kaumi was the Medical Director of Childcare and Wellness Clinics from 2014 to July 2015.
Dr Laminu Kaumi is a European/Latin American trained Nigerian Medical Consultant in Family Medicine, Tropical and Community Pediatrics.
For close to 2 decades, he has been gathering experience from various World-class Hospitals in both Latin America and Europe. He studied for his pre-clinical education at the Latin America School of Medicine in Havana Cuba, and underwent clinical studies as well as housemanship program at the Manuel Fajardo Teaching Hospital, Cuba. To acquaint himself with the knowledge of Medicine in Nigeria and West Africa at large, he decided, in 2008, to undergo Housemanship Program at the Muhammad Abdullahi Wase hospital and Murtala Muhammad hospital which is the second largest in West Africa; both hospitals are in Kano. While in Kano and with the assistance of the Pediatric Consultant at the Murtala Muhammad hospital, he was able to introduce modern innovations that transformed the department. Laminu proceeded to Ramón y Cajal Teaching Hospital in Madrid Spain for his residency program, which he successfully completed recently. The 1,300 bed Teaching Hospital is been considered for the past 4 years as the Centre of Excellence and the best in Spain.
He also had his Masters in Public Health at the Universdad autonoma de Madrid, Spain where he majored in Tropical Medicine and International Health. He is licensed to practice in Europe, Latin America and Nigeria. While in Manuel Fajardo Teaching Hospital in Havana, Cuba, Laminu et al co-authored a textbook on Thoracic Surgery ‘Comentarios en Cirugia Toracica’ which won the best ‘Textbook in Thoracic Surgery’ award at the Cuban Annual National Conference of Surgery in 2013. Graduated with honours “Título de Oro” with 7 Academic awards in various fields.
He was in 2013, appointed the European delegate who represented Spain in the Mini-hippokrates Exchange Programs in Croatia. He was also one time shortlisted as the only Resident Doctor to represent the community of Madrid in scholarship rotation program at the Head Office of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), WHO Washington D.C, USA.
Laminu holds the Membership of the following WHO recognized and approved medical organizations; Miembro Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Madrid, Member Cuban Medical Association, Member Nigerian Medical Association, Member European Primary Care Cardiovascular Society, Member Vasco da gama movement (Vdgm), Spain. Active Member of the Henry Reeve Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics.
